Welcome to People's Memorial Association

Everyone deserves respect in life and death.  People's Memorial Association seeks to reduce challenges during the difficult time when a loved one dies. We help nurture members who advocate for and educate themselves around memorial and end-of-life planning.

Since 1939, we have been the thought-leader for funeral choice, education, and advocacy in Washington State. There are currently over 71,000 living members in Washington State, and we have served well over 220,000 families. Learn more about our organizational values here.

People's Memorial Association is a membership organization. Together, PMA Members have collectively negotiated for simplified options, lower prices, and no sales pressure. PMA holds contracts with over 20 funeral homes across Washington state plus a number of other end-of-life services.

PMA membership is a one-time fee of $99 with no annual dues. Once you're a member, you're a member for life.

PMA Members receive a 15% discount on all services and merchandise purchased through a partnered funeral home. All new members are sent a packet of end-of-life planning documents to help them write wishes down and simply communicate with next-of-kin. PMA staff are available to help PMA members answer all manner of funeral and care questions. You have a compassionate and trustworthy resource for all your questions about memorials, funerals, and other after-death arrangements.

PMA is also partnered with cemeteries, a monument company, urn providers, pet funeral homes, and a virtual service company.

Are you looking for a service provider? PMA holds partnerships with a network of providers with the highest ethical and service standards. We also send satisfaction surveys to 100% of PMA members served by our funeral homes so we can guarantee our members are happy with their service, did not receive any upselling, and are treated with the respect and compassion they deserve.

PMA believes there is no right or wrong way to perform a funeral, and want everyone to make informed choices that conform to their own beliefs and resources. PMA is primarily supported by individual donors, and not subsidized by funeral homes, so we offer unbiased, consumer-focused answers to your questions. Our staff will only refer you to service providers that we would use ourselves.

With many end-of-life care options, you may be interested in looking for providers that serve cremation, burials, green burials, alkaline hydrolysis, or natural organic reduction. Anatomical donation is also available across Washington state, but please plan for a contingency as one in one-hundred deaths qualify for anatomical donation.

Passionate about affordable, dignified deathcare for all? Please consider donating to support our work.
